Exposure Keratopathy and Chronic Dry Eye
Patient Case Overview
Patient arrived in office complaining of dryness due to incomplete blink.
Patient with incomplete blink now with amniotic membrane and contact lens on top. Three days later, 2 day follow-up, with CL on can see amnion is degraded fully. With contact lens off and cornea stained — showing complete resolution of inferior keratitis. Inferior corneal staining secondary to dryness due to incomplete blink.
This case highlights the effectiveness of amniotic membrane therapy in managing exposure keratopathy and chronic dry eye. Despite ongoing incomplete blink, treatment with Eclipse supported rapid epithelial recovery, with full amnion degradation and resolution of inferior keratitis within days. The patient achieved restored ocular surface integrity and improved tear film stability, demonstrating the value of regenerative support in dryness-related corneal damage.
