Optimizing Your AMT Workflow

Streamline patient selection, procedure setup, and post-procedure follow-up for amniotic membrane therapy.

Workflow phases
Scheduling

No special scheduling required

AMT applications fit within a standard 20–30 minute exam slot. No procedure room, no surgical scheduling, no anesthesia coordination. Flag AMT patients in your scheduling system so staff can confirm product availability before the visit.

Add an AMT flag to your scheduling template to trigger pre-visit product check
Schedule follow-up at booking — day 5–7 for Aurora, day 5–7 for Eclipse
Pre-visit

Product preparation takes 2 minutes

Eclipse Aurora and Tetra are room-temperature — no preparation needed. Assign this to a trained technician.

Confirm product size selection based on prior exam findings
Application visit

5–10 minutes at the slit lamp

Patient counseling (5 min) + application (5–10 min) + post-procedure instructions (5 min). The application itself is the shortest part of the visit. Most of the time is patient education and documentation.

Use a standardized consent and instruction sheet to reduce counseling time
Document defect size, product used, and lot number at every application
Follow-up

Day 5–7: assess and document

Follow-up visits are brief — assess re-epithelialization, remove BCL if Eclipse was used, document outcome, and plan continuation of care. Most patients are discharged at this visit.

Photograph the surface at follow-up — before/after documentation supports reimbursement
If closure is incomplete, assess for underlying cause before repeat application
Staff roles

Everyone has a role.
